When a question requires current or external information, Zark AI searches the web and integrates relevant findings with your existing data.

When Web Search Helps

Web search is used when a question depends on current, external, or unverifiable information not present in your uploaded files. Zark AI automatically determines when external sources are needed and performs web searches without requiring explicit instruction. Retrieved information is synthesized into an answer and includes citations to the original sources. You don’t need to explicitly request a web search. Zark AI recognizes when external information would help and automatically searches, reads relevant sources, and presents a synthesized answer with citations. For example, if you upload a photo of a meal and ask “How many calories is this?”, Zark AI identifies the food items visually, then searches for nutritional information to give you an estimate.

Combining Internal and External Data

The real power comes from combining your internal data with external context:
  • “How does our pricing compare to industry averages?” (uses your data + web research)
  • “What do reviews say about products similar to our top seller?”
  • “Find recent news about companies in my customer list”
Zark AI weaves together what it knows from your files with what it finds on the web, giving you a complete picture.

Privacy Considerations

When web search is used, queries are anonymized and do not include your internal data. External sources receive generic search requests, not information from your files. For more information about privacy and security, see our Privacy and Data Handling and troubleshooting guide.
